The awkward thing about buying a clear case online is that you are only seeing half the design.
The other half is already in your hand: Silver, Deep Blue or Cosmic Orange. Put the same flowers over each finish and they will not feel like the same case.
We made the image above because “it will probably look fine” is not especially helpful when you are trying to picture something you will carry every day. Here is what each iPhone 17 Pro Max colour actually brings to a clear design.
Silver is the easiest background to work with. Black line art stays crisp, pale flowers remain delicate and a personalised name is readable without looking heavy.
It is also forgiving if your taste changes. A blue design can feel cool and calm; orange adds warmth; pink stays clean rather than turning muddy.
On Silver, the Blue Iris II Ultra Clear Case is at its lightest. The lavender petals stay soft, and the white MagSafe ring nearly blends into the phone.
Choose this combination if you want people to notice the illustration before the device colour.
Deep Blue is not a blank canvas. That is its advantage.
White, lilac, pale pink and bright green lift away from the darker finish. Black or navy details become subtler, so the design may reveal itself slowly rather than all at once.
Blue Iris II feels more composed here. The lettering and blue line look connected to the phone instead of printed over it. If you like florals but worry they will feel too sweet, a darker phone colour can provide the weight you are looking for.
Cosmic Orange changes everything around it. Cream becomes warmer, blue looks sharper and pale pink can take on a peach tone wherever the case is clear.
If you chose this finish because you wanted colour, look for a design with open areas around the camera and edges. A dense print can cover the feature you liked enough to choose in the first place.
Blue flowers over orange are not the safe option—and that may be exactly why the combination works. It has the pleasure of discovering that two colours you would not normally pair can make each other better.

We cannot see which phone colour a buyer owned, so this is not a ranking of Silver, Blue or Orange. What the number does show is that many buyers chose not to hide the phone completely. For them, the finish remained part of the design.
Take a screenshot of the case and place it beside a photo of your phone finish. Zoom out until both are about the size you normally see in your hand.
Notice your first reaction. If you see the artwork first, the contrast is doing its job. If you see the phone colour first, the case is giving it room. If your eye has nowhere to rest, try a design with more clear space.
There is no technical score for the “best” combination. The right one is the version that makes you want to turn your phone over instead of leaving it face-up.
