Clear or Mirror? What 1,104 Phone Case Choices Told Us

by Hano Gram on August 15, 2026

Two moods, one everyday choice: let the design shine through, or keep a mirror close at hand.

A phone case spends more time in your hand than almost any other accessory, so the choice tends to become personal very quickly.

Some of us want a case that lets the phone—and the artwork—shine through. Others love the little confidence boost of having a mirror close at hand before a photo, a meeting or a night out.

We see both personalities every day at Hanogram. So we became curious: when it was time to actually choose, which case did people take home?

We looked back at 1,104 paid, non-cancelled phone case purchases made between August 2025 and August 2026. The answer was clear—quite literally.

Clear cases were the everyday favorite

Just over four out of every five cases purchased were Clear Cases:

  • Clear Case: 81.8%
  • Mirror Case: 18.2%

Hanogram order data showing that 81.8% of purchased cases were Clear Cases and 18.2% were Mirror Cases

Clear was the everyday favorite, chosen in roughly 82 out of every 100 purchases.

The short version: About 82 out of every 100 cases were Clear—but in the UK, Mirror Cases came surprisingly close to an even split.

A clear case gives a design room to breathe, keeps the original phone color visible and slips easily into almost any look. It can feel quiet from a distance, then reveal more personality when you pick it up.

The UK surprised us

Case choices changed quite a bit depending on where the order was going.

In the United States, around one in seven cases purchased was a Mirror Case. In the UK, it was almost one in two.

That was the result that made us stop and look twice.

A comparison showing Mirror Cases represented 13.7% of US purchases and 49.5% of UK purchases

The same collection, but a very different mood on either side of the Atlantic.

We cannot say exactly why British shoppers leaned so much more strongly toward mirror styles. The order data shows the difference, but it does not explain the reason behind it. That is a question worth returning to with customer feedback.

Australia sat close to the worldwide average, while Singapore showed a slightly stronger taste for Mirror Cases, at roughly one in four purchases.

A little cat ran away with the year

Case type was not the only clear favorite. One design stood well ahead of the rest: Minimalist Meow.

A little cat became our biggest design story of the year.

Customers chose it 156 times—more than twice the number of our next most-purchased design. Its simple cat illustration seems to have found that sweet spot between playful and easy to live with every day.

Florals were the other big love story. A Watercolour Floral came next with 66 purchases, followed by Monogram & Floral with 32. Across the wider list, soft flowers, garden themes and personalized lettering appeared again and again.

The pattern felt very Hanogram: people wanted something gentle and expressive, but still personal enough to feel like their own.

New-phone excitement showed up too

The two most common phone models in these case purchases were the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro. Together, they accounted for 434 cases.

There is always a burst of excitement around a new phone. Choosing the case is often the moment when a new device stops feeling like everybody else’s and starts feeling like yours.

Samsung shoppers brought plenty of variety too, with the Galaxy S25, S25 Ultra, S26 Ultra and S24 Ultra among the most frequently seen Galaxy models.

So, are you Clear or Mirror?

If you love a light, clean look and want the phone or printed design to take center stage, an Ultra Clear Case is probably your natural match.

If you like your accessories to be useful as well as beautiful, a Mirror Case gives you a quick look-check without carrying a separate compact. Samsung users can also explore our Galaxy Mirror Cases.

One keeps things open and effortless; the other adds a polished little secret to something already in your hand all day. The best choice is the one that still feels right after the new-phone excitement wears off.
